April 08 - WA Border to Gibb River Road

26th April - A pleasant evening hiking and quite camp at Keep River National Park, we were up early (as usual) and soon at the quarantine check point.

Barry was very good, and interesting to talk to, he would stop, 21 years in Kununurra. Checked the vehicle, van cupboards and fridge. Mind you it was a cursory look.

Into Kununurra to resupply with veggies etc. Check e-mails, being a Sunday not a whole lot open even the Tourist Visitor Ctr was closed and this was one week before their big two week Music cum Rodeo events.

We headed back to Lake Argyle to free camp

Actually it's Spillway Creek, but end's up in the Ord. There were some magic rock pools with fast flowing water for a tub and hair wash!

Off early again to Kununurra to check e-mails, etc. then head bush again! The visitor ctr confirmed the Gibb River Road had just been officially opened to all traffic.

We ended up near the mouth of the Keep River back inside the NT Border.

Next day we are back in Town as neap tides, we meet up with Steve & Di at Ivonhoe Crossing, the x-ing closed as the Ord River weir gates had been opened. So around the black stuff to Parry Creek Road.

As we pulled in a vehicle with four blokes and a tinnie on top pulled out, leaving behind the frames. Just don't need to encourage the croc's near the boat ramp thanks!

We are ready!!

As we soon found out!

Grab a steer up river!

To good to pass up and evening cruise on the river!
Okay! this is a bit faster than cruisin!

I missed the croc's getting the Cockatoo, it was all over in a flash!

The Roo's are very wary near the water and only one would drink at a time.

Put this one on a hook and within 30 seconds a big 'catfish' took it, he ended up as dinner, in a Thai curry.

It was a battle to get the fly in the water sometimes as the Rainbow Bee Eaters would hit the fly in mid air!

Another steer dragged into the water!

Mind you I was 50 meters away under some trees in the tinnie when these two started to have a go at the prize and one another!

On to Wyndham for fuel and stock up before the Gibb River Road.
